Sleep near the water the night before. A private charter boards at the harbor from 10:00, and a first morning that starts with a missed pickup is a morning without light.

For the Friday departure the night before is Thursday. The meeting point and time are confirmed in writing before you pay, so no hotel choice is made blind. For a private charter any date works, and the night before is the one that matters.

Distance decides more than stars. The hotels below range from about 2 minutes to about 45 minutes from the harbor by car or boat transfer. A hotel close to the marina costs you nothing on the morning. A resort on a far beach gives you a slower start and a better evening.

Arrive in Labuan Bajo the day before sailing. Flights get canceled and delayed, and a boat does not wait for a plane.

The airport is Komodo International Airport, code LBJ, about 2 to 3 kilometers from the town and about 10 minutes by car from the harbor and marina area.

Most travelers connect through Bali, Jakarta or Surabaya. A direct flight from Bali takes about 1 hour 10 minutes. Jakarta takes longer, and Lombok and Kupang feed in on smaller routes. We sell no flights and quote none.

Book the arrival for the day before sailing and the departure for after the boat is back. Check-out from the boat is by 14:00 on the last day, so a flight at 13:00 does not fit, and a flight at 18:00 does.

Treat the flight home like the flight in. Leave a margin. A harbor authority order or a weather closure can move a sailing, and the replacement-boat terms cover the boat, not your ticket.

The boat is back at the harbor by 14:00 on the last day. On a Friday departure that is Sunday. Plan the afternoon from that time, not from your flight.

Check-out from the boat is by 14:00, and the harbor pickup runs free in both directions. If your flight leaves in the evening, you have a gap between the pier and the plane. Fill it with a hotel day room, a late lunch or a stop in town.

Whether a hotel holds your bags after check-out is the hotel's answer. We ask it in writing and tell you before you pay. We do not promise it here.

A late flight is easiest from a hotel near the airport. An early flight the next morning is easiest from the same one. Ask us which of our partner hotels is closest to your gate.

If the flight leaves before the boat is back, the plan is wrong, not the flight. Tell us when you book, and we move the day.
